The High Authority took part in the 23rd annual conference of the European Partners Against Corruption network (EPAC) in Bucharest

The conference, held on 26 and 27 November 2024, brought together nearly 200 participants to discuss the theme “Together for Integrity”.

Speakers from the European Commission, the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, Europol, the Council of Europe, the UN and national anti-corruption and police control institutions shared their views and experiences. The conference was structured around three themes: “Investigating and prosecuting corruption and fraud”, ‘Preventing corruption and integrity building in law enforcement” and “Moving forth the anti-corruption agenda: building resilient anti-corruption frameworks for public institutions and private sector”.

Various breakout sessions explored the growing importance of data analysis and its use in the prosecution of corruption-related crimes, the identification of potential corruption risks, and the initiation and resolution of investigations.

The High Authority took part in a panel discussion on the use of digital tools to guarantee integrity in the public service, presenting the online declaration system set up in France and the use of direct access to tax administration databases.

The EPAC/EACN prize was awarded to Hungary’s National Protective Service for its initiative entitled “Innovative awareness-raising activities to support integrity development processes in the society”. This is an educational programme on ethics and integrity for teachers, aimed at encouraging the Alpha and Z generations to adopt ethical behaviour.

At the end of the General Assembly, the Bucharest Declaration was adopted.
